
Upper Phillimore Gardens is a detached 16,630 sq ft, seven-storey home in Kensington, with a separate garage and office space.
ECS Systems was initially engaged to work directly with the client and design team to upgrade the existing security systems. As the project progressed, the scope evolved, the original systems were removed, and ECS developed entirely new security designs to meet the updated brief.
Located on one of London’s most prestigious residential streets, the external security systems needed to provide a strong deterrent while blending seamlessly with the surrounding environment.
With high-end finishes throughout the home, equipment selection had to balance performance with visual alignment. The security systems also needed to integrate with the property’s AV and BMS systems, while bespoke programming was required to match the client’s operational preferences and deliver a tailored, intuitive user experience.
ECS produced new security designs that reflected the changing brief, with a clear focus on seamless integration and day-to-day usability.
ECS’s senior project manager led coordination with multiple on-site project managers responsible for different disciplines and zones across the property.
Bi-weekly meetings were held before and throughout installation, bringing together the site project manager, design teams, ECS project management and the ECS senior surveyor. Design reviews and changes were documented, with drawings, specifications and compliance records kept up to date.
Through the design phase, ECS built a strong working relationship with both the client and the design team, and was invited to submit an installation proposal without the project going out to tender.
The client moved into the home on schedule and achieved high-level security without compromising the warmth and comfort of a family home.
ECS Systems continues to maintain and monitor the property, supporting long-term peace of mind and sustaining an excellent working relationship with the end client and associated contractors.
