Future Greenwich College is a new campus which has recently been developed by London South East Colleges in Plumstead. The new site supports modern vocational education, to support skills needed in the local economy, while also forming part of a wider scheme that includes affordable homes and improved public spaces.
ECS Systems worked as part of a large, fast-paced construction project, with multiple trades operating concurrently and a programme driven by strict deadlines. From tender through to completion, the design developed over time. Delivery involved a main contractor, a specialist contractor ECS worked alongside, and an educational end client with an existing relationship with ECS Systems. With multiple stakeholders and evolving requirements, consistent communication and proactive coordination were essential.
The project required a structured approach to programme management to accommodate design changes without compromising compliance or quality.
Regular alignment across stakeholders was necessary to manage risk, maintain momentum on site, and keep decision-making clear as the design evolved.
ECS Systems provided a senior, multi-disciplined engineering team supported by active project management. Structured bi-weekly site meetings were implemented to track progress, manage design updates and agree next steps. The ECS surveyor who developed the design remained closely involved, supporting continuity and ensuring revisions stayed aligned with both compliance requirements and the overall programme.
Day-to-day coordination was maintained through regular site presence, clear written updates and dedicated touchpoints with the educational client.
Following design development, the project was handed over to ECS project management for delivery. ECS engineers completed a fully compliant installation across multiple integrated systems, including intruder alarm, CCTV, fire alarm, Salto access control, refuge system, PA system, disabled assistance systems and bespoke speed-lane turnstiles.
The works were delivered as an integrated package, supporting a coordinated handover and a single point of accountability across security and life-safety systems.
The project was delivered on programme. ECS maintained a strong health and safety record throughout, and the standard of installation was positively received by stakeholders. ECS has since been appointed to maintain the site, providing ongoing support and assurance that the systems will continue to operate reliably.
