Wimpole Street is a Georgian townhouse in Marylebone, recognised as a Grade II listed property with special architectural and historic interest. The project involved a full renovation and basement extension, expanding the building across seven floors.
ECS Systems worked closely with the client to design and deliver a complete fire and security package that met the functional demands of the property while respecting the aesthetic expectations associated with a listed building.
As a listed property undergoing major works, the fire and security systems needed to be integrated in a way that protected the building’s character without compromising performance.
The schedule was fast-paced and evolved throughout delivery, with structural amendments and multiple trades working in parallel, so maintaining progress relied on flexibility, clear communication and swift decision-making.
ECS delivered the design and installation of the intruder alarm, fire alarm, access control, security doors and garage automation, including an air-locking solution at the entrance.
To strengthen protection while working within the constraints of the building, ECS also integrated laser detection technology and implemented wireless fire detection in areas where traditional cabling was not feasible, delivering a Grade 3 intruder alarm system and a Grade A LD2 fire alarm system in full compliance with BS 5839-6.
ECS coordinated closely with the client and design team from the early stages, with an initial consultation and site survey informing the system design and installation approach, and adapting the design as the project developed.
ECS delivered an integrated fire and security solution that met the functional demands of the renovation while respecting the listed status and character of the property.
By combining compliant system design with careful integration methods, ECS supported a secure, high-quality outcome aligned with the client’s expectations.
